I've recently added a state-by-state list of veterinary hospice providers to the TAHP website as well as expanding both the veterinary hospice links and the grief/loss links pages. I hope you'll find these helpful. In the near future, a national list of Christian grief/loss counselors will also be added.

My thanks to Catherine Buday at The Marlborough Enterprise for writing a great story about The Animal Healing Project called "Can Faith Help Fido?" with a specific emphasis on veterinary hospice, one of TAHP's four areas of focus.

Please Pray for Question 3 and Proposition 2

This evening a prayer vigil was held in an historic church in Copley Square in Boston to pray for the passage of ballot measure Question 3 which would end greyhound racing in Massachusetts by 2010. We also lifted in prayer those fighting for the passage of Proposition 2 in California. You can participate in this effort wherever you are by downloading the printed meditations to use in your own prayer time tonight and tomorrow. Please remember the animals and the scores of campaign volunteers who've been laboring on their behalf for months. We're almost there...

Animal Healing Stories

TAHP Kick-off Celebration a Success!

The inauguration celebration for The Animal Healing Project was a rousing success! It was well-attended and a good time was had by all. It was very lively, given the 35 animals--most very social dogs--in attendance so the healing prayer part, which was supposed to happen at the end, didn't really go as planned, but that's okay. It ended up being blessings given on the spot by the parish priest while I was unexpectedly photographed for a newspaper article, rather than quiet stations in the chapel. It was a good learning experience and I've already put to use some of the take-aways in considering how to move forward with planning the best way to make healing prayer available to animals in a public setting. I was grateful to be able to participate in Nativity's annual blessing service in this unique way and to give the message at the service. You can read the text of the sermon here.
